The Orioles could be forced to place Mark Trumbo on the disabled list in the coming days as he continues to deal with a lingering knee injury.

Trumbo left Sunday’s game against Cleveland in the eighth inning and will now head back to Baltimore to meet with a team doctor and get an MRI instead of traveling with the O’s to Toronto. The inflammation in Trumbo’s right knee has been bothering him for a while but only sidelined him for a short stretch of games in back in May.

Trumbo was given an injection last week when the pain started to flare up again. However, things have not progressed since then and the pain is starting to become a liability according to Trumbo. His .302 batting average and 14 RBI’s in the month of August certainly make him an asset, but at a certain point that gets negated by the injuries’ impact on his defense and running.
