We opened up this week’s show by welcoming on Michael Telford to talk about some of the Ravens needs as the offseason gets underway (1:30). Michael is a big fan of mock draft season which is already well underway. He is also in the process of writing some in-depth breakdowns on players he thinks will be a good fit in Baltimore so be sure to check those out over at Russell Street Report over the next few months as we get ready for the 2019 draft.
Jake would like to apologize for mispronouncing Michael’s name on the show. We should probably just refer to him as “Chibs” from now on.
After that we had to dive right into the reported trade that will send Joe Flacco to the Denver Broncos for a mid-round draft pick (22:15). The deal is not official yet but for now it appears the Ravens have found a way to move on from Flacco’s big contract while getting something in return.
The football talk continues as we take a look at the latest developments in the Steelers clown show (35:00). Antonio Brown has requested a trade with three years left on his contract, placing the Steelers between a rock and a hard place. If Pittsburgh does decide to move on from Brown, it could mark the end of an era for the Steelers who are also a few years away from losing their hall of fame quarterback.
In addition to the Brown news, there was some interesting talk circulating this past weekend involving Le’Veon Bell and where he might end up next season. The Ravens were brought up by Ian Rapoport on NFL Network, which sparked a debate among fans. We pondered the possibility of Bell wearing purple and black next season (42:00).
Be sure to check out Nolan McGraw’s breakdown of the Le’Veon Bell debate.
The NFL offseason is exciting, but for now we have no reason to be looking too far ahead as the Maryland Terrapins are providing enough entertainment (52:05). The young Terps added to their resume on Tuesday night by taking down No. 12 Purdue 70-56. Maryland dominated the second half and had five players finish with at least 10 points in their first win over the Boilermakers since 2016.
Last but not least, we spent a little time on the Orioles as Spring Training gets underway (1:08:25). Frank Robinson passed away last week so we also spent some time talking about Robinson’s impact on the Orioles and what he means to us as fans of the game (1:14:00).
As usual we ended the show with the numbers segment, taking a look at the most notable Baltimore sports athletes to wear the number 38 on their jersey (1:19:40).
