Welcome to Episode 51 of the Charm City Bird Watch Podcast with Jake McDonnellNolan McGraw, and Ian Schultz.

We talked about the frustrating rain delays from the past few days, John Means continuing his solid first half, and our Players/Stinkers of the week (17:50). You’ll also hear us recognize a few minor league players who have put together solid first months of their respective seasons.

Next up, Jake holds an interview with this week’s guest, 105.7 The Fan Field Reporter Gabby DiPaula (34:08). Gabby spoke with Jake about her favorite UMD sporting events that she’s seen in-person as a student and a member of the media. Gabby also revealed her favorite Oriole who made their MLB debut in 2019, which Ravens rookie she’s most excited to see, and her take on the Ravens new offensive philosophy.

After Gabby’s interview, Nolan and Ian hop back in and go back-and-forth over Joe Flacco‘s recent comments regarding his desire (or lack thereof) to mentor rookie quarterback Drew Lock (52:24). Ian also shares a story for our What An Idiot segment moments after this particular story occurred (1:00:58). We also got into a recent Twitter storm of Marylanders and Baltimore sports fans calling out a women grilling crabs and dousing them in BBQ sauce.

Episode 51 concludes with the weekly numbers segment (1:08:53). This week we try to guess the most notable players in Baltimore sports history to wear the number 51.
